Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her according to American standards, in the child prodigy category. For a child of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family members, they had innate talents. Maureen entered into this nurturing house on August 17th, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and enjoyed playing tough athletic games. Additionally, she had a gift for acting. It was evident by her getting almost every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. At age 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
